The National Conference on Nano Science Fundamentals & Applications(July 23-24,2011)
The Primary objective of the conference was to explore the current research being carried out in nano science & highlights the diverge area where nano science and nano-technology is applicable. Both fundamental and applied aspects of the nano-science were covered in various technical sessions and in formal discussion. The conference covered broad range of topics like various synthesizing techniques, morphology structure, optical/thermal properties and applications in opto-electronics, sensors, medical,chemical and environmental protection . In addition ,the conference also covered the safety aspects of indiscriminate use of nano-technology.
National Hands-on Workshop on Characterization Techniques and Nanomaterials Applications (20th -25th January,2020)National Hands-on Workshop on Characterization Techniques and Nanomaterials Applications organised by Department of Applied Sciences was held at Chitkara University, Punjab from 20 th -25th January, 2020.
Day 1: The day begun with the inaugural ceremony in the presence of various dignitaries and the registered candidates. Dr. Deepa Ghosh (Scientist-F, Prof., Institute of Nanoscience and Technology, Mohali) delivered a lecture on “Overview on Nanoparticles and Nanotechnology” and an interactive discussion was held with the participants. Post lunch session was followed by Dr. Karamjit Singh (Assistant Prof., Punjabi University, Patiala)and he shared his expertise on “Photocatalytic and Sensing Applications of Semiconductor Nanostructures”.
Day 2: Second day of the workshop witnessed an expert talk by Dr. I.S. Sandhu (Prof., Chitkara University, Punjab) on “Nanotechnology: Concept to Product” and further Dr. Anshuman Sahai (Assistant Prof., Manav Rachna University, Faridabad) took the charge for hands-on session on Origin 8.0 software.
Day 3: The workshop begun with the Hands-on session on Corel Software by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar (Assistant Prof., Panjab University, Chandigarh) followed by talk on XRD and XRF analysis.
Day 4: Dr. Sanjeev shared his expertise by a practice session on Rietveld Software and this further continued a session on Latex Software by Dr. Tania Bose (Associate Prof., Chitkara University, Punjab).
Day 5: Dr. Puneet Sharma (Prof., Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala) started the fifth day of the workshop by delivering a lecture on “Exchange Coupled Nanocomposite ferrite Magnets: Processing, Properties and Applications”. The participants also got a chance to visit the instrumentation labs of the university to actually understand the operating units. The last session of the day was held by Dr. Shivani Malhotra(Dean, Prof., Chitkara University, Punjab) on X’Pert High Score Software.
Day 6: The last day of the workshop begun with an expert talk by Chef Didar Singh (Chef, Chitkara University, Punjab) and finally concluded with a valedictory ceremony.

Session on “Advancing Healthcare Through Nanotechnology” Held at Chitkara University Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Mansi Chitkara, Chitkara School of Health Sciences organized a highly engaging session titled “Advancing Healthcare Through Nanotechnology: Foundations and Emerging Applications” on February 5, 2025, at Einstein Hall, Galileo Block, Chitkara University, Punjab.
The session aimed to equip students with insights into cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of healthcare. Spearheaded by Dr. Chitkara’s commitment to academic excellence, the event featured expert talks by:
The resource team shared their expertise on the revolutionary applications of nanotechnology in drug delivery, diagnostics, and disease treatment. Discussions included the use of nano-engineered materials in regenerative medicine, the role of nanotechnology-based sensors in early detection, and the potential of personalized treatment.
Real-world examples and interactive discussions enriched the learning experience, demonstrating the tangible impact of nanotechnology on patient care and medical innovation.
The session saw enthusiastic participation from students of B.Sc. Allied Health Sciences and B.Sc. (H) Nutrition & Dietetics (2022 Batch), who engaged actively through insightful questions and discussions.
This initiative reflects Chitkara University’s ongoing commitment to nurturing future healthcare leaders equipped with the knowledge and skills to embrace technological innovation.
On April 23, 2025, MLPW 2025 transported students into the transformative realm of nano-diagnostics through an immersive event titled “Nano-Detectives: Small Tech, Big Clues.” The focus of the day was on the remarkable capabilities of nanotechnology in revolutionizing medical diagnostics—enabling the detection of diseases at the molecular level, even before symptoms appear.
Lead by Dr. Aashish Kumar, students were introduced to the Nanotechnology Lab and began their journey with foundational concepts of nanotechnology and its vast applications in medical science. The session included hands-on demonstrations and explanations of:
Dr. Kumar highlighted how engineered nanomaterials can detect minute biochemical changes with exceptional sensitivity, making them vital tools for early disease detection and preventive diagnostics.
